Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
BeerReal is a social beer-logging application ("the App"). When we say "we", "us", or "our" we mean the operator of BeerReal. Contact: support@beerreal.com.
2. What data we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the App: • Account data — email address and display name you provide at signup. • Beer logs — photos you take, beer names, styles, ratings, notes, and the approximate location (latitude / longitude) at the time of each pour. • Usage data — timestamps of activity and the last time you used the AI validation feature (for rate-limiting only). • Device data — standard server logs (IP address, browser/OS type). We do not sell this data.
3. How we use your data
• To operate the App — show your feed, leaderboard, map, and recap. • To validate beer photos — images are sent to an AI vision API (OpenAI) solely to confirm the photo shows a beer. Images are not stored by the AI provider beyond the duration of the API call. • To protect against abuse — rate-limiting based on your last validation timestamp. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Who we share data with
• Supabase (supabase.com) — our database and file-storage provider. Data is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). • OpenAI (openai.com) — receives the beer photo image for AI validation. See OpenAI's privacy policy at openai.com/privacy. • Vercel (vercel.com) — our hosting provider. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third party.
5. Beer photos
Photos you upload are stored securely and are visible only to you and your accepted friends within the App. You can delete any photo by deleting the associated beer log. Deleted photos are removed from our storage within 30 days.
6. Location data
Location (latitude / longitude) is captured once per beer log, only when you grant permission. It is used to show pins on the in-app map. We do not track your location continuously. You can deny location permission — the App will use a default location instead.
7. Age requirement
BeerReal is intended solely for users who are of legal drinking age in their country (minimum 18 years old). We collect a self-declared date of birth on first use to enforce this. If we discover that a user is under the legal drinking age, we will delete their account and data.
8. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can request full account deletion by emailing support@beerreal.com — all personal data will be deleted within 30 days.
9. Your rights
Under GDPR (if you are in the EU/EEA) and other applicable laws you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact support@beerreal.com to exercise any of these rights.
10. Responsible drinking
BeerReal is a logging tool, not an encouragement to drink. We include built-in pacing features (5-minute cooldown between logs) and responsible-drinking reminders. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol, please reach out to a local support service.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before any material change takes effect.
